Tue, 12 May 2009 12:39:43 +0000 http://wordpress.org/?v=2.7.1 en hourly 1 Club Deuce in Miami http://www.timingandlighting.com/blog/?p=191 http://www.timingandlighting.com/blog/?p=191#comments Sat, 04 Apr 2009 22:46:27 +0000 admin http://www.timingandlighting.com/blog/?p=191 On Monday after Ultra was over, we hung out with some of the promoters, etc at a famous dive bar called Club Deuce on South Beach.  (Famous to me b/c they gave me food poisoning.  Seriously.)  It was a beautiful day outside, but you’d never know it inside that dark, smoky den whose claim to fame is in having been open 23 hours a day since the 50’s.  (They close in the morning for an hour to mop the floor.)

The characters in there!  There was a guy with an eyepatch.  A guy who would talk to you, but nothing he said sounded like words.  There were the dogs lounging on the floor.  Our old friend Matty from Tampa (whose arms are flailing around talking to Bunny in the video) there.  Oh, and for some reason, I caught this video of Henry singing an unlikely song… (watch for the eyepatch guy in the background!)

So, all in all Ultra was really cool.  Electronic music isn’t really my thing.  Actually, let me take that back.  House music isn’t really my thing.  But I met a lot of great people and got to spend time with friends and do some partying South Beach style on rooftop penthouses (thanks Bunny!) and hot tubs and stuff.  Henry’s thoughts on leaving Miami:

They do a performance art show to their original electronic music. Their stage show is pretty badass! Henry worked with them on their new track shown in the first video called “I’m Your Drug.” So catchy.

Somehow, Henry and I were able to sleep during it, though.  May have something to do with all the late nights.  And the fact that Henry thought drinking liquor in the AM was a good idea.

I know this video is pretty poorly shot.  (I have to learn to slow down!) Oh well.  I’m getting better.  I just thought that the scene at this backstage scene was kinda cool. I love the girl running by in the hot pink pants. She’s the lead singer of Shiny Toy Guns.
